Patterns established in life tend to be repeated unless something occurs to break the cycle.
Those who enter into counselling take the first of many steps towards a new beginning
.
In a survey by Macquarie University in Sydney, researchers found that "sexual incompatibility" was the most common reason given by divorcing couples for the break-up of their marriage. Clearly problems with sex can be a reflection of many other troubles within a relationship - but even when things are going well, some couples can still have sexual difficulties. Often these are based in lack of desire - and the reasons can be many and varied, ranging from limited opportunity to basic boredom.

Magazines, sexy movies and steamy blockbuster novels and internet downloading all help create the myth that each and every one of us is not only ready but eager to make love any time and any place - and, what's more, that each sexual encounter will be an exquisite erotic extravagance. But for all too many people the reality is quite different. In fact, it's estimated that about 40 per cent of Australians - men and women- suffer some form of sexual difficulty at some point in their lives.

Whatever the cause, the outcome can be great distress and a great strain on a relationship. Many people have found sexual and relationship counselling can revitalise a sagging sex life.
